male companion?

i wonder when the doctor will again have a male companion.
his relationship to captain jack makes it seem like a great idea to myself.
the doctor is obviously not homophobic.

yes, it seems that i did forget mickey. and i liked him too. i felt sorry for the way that the doctor treated mickey at first. he was rather cruel, i thought.
but, i was meaning a male as the major companion. mickey was sort of a tag-along.
in the old era, the doctor had adric and earlier, jamie.
i would like to see a male companion for a while, or perhaps a male and a female.

What I think they are trying to do is to use the companion as a possible love interest/sexual tension in order to add a little something-something to the show. I think this is backed up by the fact that the Doctor is lip locking some historical hottie just about every other episode (including Capt Jack!).

In the original series, the closest the Doctor ever got to anybody was the occasional handshake, hugs were ever rarer.

What I would like to see is more than one companion. There were times when the Tardis control room got really crowded with all those people in there!

In the original series, the Doctor often had a platonic love for his companions-- but that was more often seen in the performance of that actors than in the actual script. Tom Baker and Lalla Ward certainly allowed their off camera relationship to affect the chemistry between their characters, who often appeared to be in the midst of an extended courtship.

The Doctor certainly loved Ace, but is was the love of a mentor for an apprentice.

There's more to love than lips and genitals.
